Customer experience makes or breaks products, and it can make or break new companies. You perform detailed due diligence on new technologies and management teams—but what about customer experience? How well does a product you are considering investing in satisfy the goals of the target market? What would it take to make the UI ‘world class?’ How should the customer-centered design team be structured and staffed as this company grows?
If you have already invested, you know that it’s hard to find great customer experience designers to join a small company. There aren’t that many out there who have a lot of experience, and many of them are ensconced in large companies or consulting firms. I can help in the interim with design evaluations and product redesigns—both quick, low-hanging fruit changes that should give the product a quick boost and longer-term plans to create a truly customer-centered product and company.
